A set of 2 x 55 cards with motives from Alfons Mucha
Alfons Maria Mucha (1860-1939) was a famous Czech painter and designer. His most successful period was the turn between 19th and 20th century when he was working in Paris and he got famous through creation of colorful Art Nouveau posters. The major turn in his career came in 1897 when he won and order on a poster for a French actress Sarah Bernhardt. However Mucha was a big patriot and he created also lots in Bohemia and in Prague. He became the author of the first set of stamps and bank notes of the independent Tschechoslowakia and designed one of the windows for the Saint Vitus Cathedral in Prague. Mucha’s top-notch piece is the cycle of 20 large paintings called „Slovanská epopej“. This cyclus had been painted at the Zbiroh castle since 1910. “Epopej” was then finished it in 1928 and Mucha’s U.S. sponsor Charles Crane donated the master-piece to Prague. Today you can find it at the Castle in Moravský Krumlov.

Liquorice and herbal Czech bonbons used among others to smooth sore throat and relax coughing. This candy is named after one famous Czech song writer from the beginning of the 20th century named Karel Hašler and hence the name „Hašlerky“. These bonbons were originally produced in Prague, but the production now moved to another factory of the brand owner in Holešov. Bonbons contain herbal extracts from plantain, lemon balm and aniseed.
